José María Jaramillo
Founding partner
and VP Exploration.
Dr. Jaramillo is the General Director of GMAS SAS, a company that offers geoscientific solutions and consulting through a multidisciplinary team of scientists and labs that are equipped with high tech instruments as wireless™ seismic acquisition systems, Jeol 6700 FE SEM, XRD and XRF, petrophysical and petrography labs. He was Vice-president of exploration at LAEFM, a fund management company that operated the Colombian Private Investment Fund from 2005 through 2015. LAEFM invested $350 million with a return on investment close to 25%. Prior to joining LAEFM, José María was Exploration Coordinator at TEPMA Colombia (a Total company), geophysical expert for EPMI (Malaysia) and project leader in the Middle Magdalena and Cordillera Oriental for ESSO Colombia. Dr. Jaramillo holds a PhD Geology from the University of Houston (1980), a Master of Arts in Geology from Rice University (1976) and is Engineering Geologist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia-Medellin.
Edgar Aguirre
Founding partner
and VP Technical and Economics.
Mr. Aguirre is a highly experienced Oil and Gas industry executive with over 40 years of experience executing exploration and production projects in Colombia. He has held various technical and management positions including: Operations and New Business Development Manager at Petrobras Colombia, and other technical and management positions at Texaco, Hocol, and Exxon. Most recently he was President and CEO of PetroColombia. He has extensive experience leading teams during the evaluation and execution of exploration, production and enhanced recovery opportunities, and has been directly involved in the discovery and development of multiple oil and gas fields in the Putumayo, Guajira, Catatumbo, Llanos, and Magdalena basins in Colombia. He was the General Director of the “Comisión Interinstitucional de Hidrocarburos (CIH)”, a technical organization created with the objective to defend and promote the oil industry in Colombia, from 2015 to 2016. He is a specialist in hydraulic fracturing and holds a Petroleum Engineering degree from the Universidad Industrial de Santander.
Miguel de Armas
Founding partner
and VP Exploration.
Mr. de Armas is a promoter of conventional and unconventional oil and gas exploration areas in Colombia with a focus on the Eastern Cordillera, Lower Magdalena, Middle Magdalena, Upper Magdalena and Llanos sedimentary basins. He is also promoter of geothermal in co-production. Mr de Armas was Technical Vice President and Knowledge Management Manager for the Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos (ANH) for 2 years. Also Mr De Armas worked as Manager of Exploration for Nexen Petroleum Colombia for 10 years and. He worked for Chevron Petroleum Company in Colombia and Venezuela as a senior geologist for 12 years. He is a Geologist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and holds a Master of Science in Exploration from the University of Leicester (UK).
Douglas Montgomery
Founding partner
and member of the Investment Committee
Mr. Montgomery is an investor, independent advisor and consultant with more than 25 years of experience in sourcing, structuring and managing energy infrastructure companies and projects. He has been a board member in natural gas, refined products and oil transportation companies. Until recently he managed and was a member of the Investment Committee of an alternative investment firm, specializing in infrastructure and energy. Prior to that he was head of business development for Latin America at Enbridge Inc., where he held several management positions including President for Enbridge Colombia and Oleoducto al Pacifico, Director Investor Relations, Director Commercial Affairs Europe and the Middle East. Earlier in his career he worked for TC Energy and BP. He holds a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and has finance management studies in oil and gas exploration and production from the University of North Texas.
